An early-morning crash on Interstate 95 in Scottsmoor left a motorcyclist dead Friday, according to crash reports.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said an unidentified 33-year-old motorcyclist from St. Augustine lost control of his bike when driving north on I-95 just after 5:30 a.m. near the Brevard-Volusia county line.
He then struck the guardrail and was ejected from the motorcycle, causing him to fall into the path of oncoming cars, troopers said.
At that point, the motorcyclist was run over by a 42-year-old Palm Bay woman who was unable to maneuver around him in time. She also hit a guardrail.
A third vehicle, driven by a 69-year-old Cocoa man, collided with the motorcycle, which was lying directly in the path of traffic.
Troopers did not release any other identifying details about the people involved, and the crash remains under investigation.
The incident marked the second fatal motorcycle crash in as many days after a man was killed in a crash on Merritt Island Thursday morning.
