Fleeing Driver Leads to Felony Arrest and Heroin Seizure

Titusville Police have taken a local man into custody who fled from a traffic stop, crashed a vehicle and was in possession of 10 grams of heroin.

Qwentez Shyheim Keels, 25, of Titusville, will is charged with:

DWLS With Knowledge

Fleeing & Eluding LEO at High Speed

Leave Scene Crash w/Prop Damage

Reckless Driving-Property Damage/Personal Injury

Resist Officer WO Violence

Drug Trafficking charges are pending.

At approximately 11:00 AM on May 11th 2020, Titusville Police initiated a traffic stop on the suspect who was driving a black 2019 Nissan Altima near the intersection of Grannis Avenue and Palmetto Avenue.

The suspect did not comply, fled from police and headed eastbound on South Street then southbound on South Washington Avenue.

While driving recklessly, the suspect lost control and crashed the vehicle on the northbound side of South Washington Avenue near the intersection of King’s Highway.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The suspect fled the scene on foot and entered the waters of the Indian River Lagoon in an attempt to evade police.

Within minutes officers took the suspect into custody without incident.

Keels was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
